Our Purpose

Smoke Free Warwickshire is a multi-agency alliance committed to providing smoke free air, helping smokers to stop and promoting a tobacco free society. We are an alliance of public and private sector partners, lead by our local NHS Trusts working together to tackle tobacco and its effects. Our partners include:

Why tackle tobacco?

Smoking kills over 1000 people in Warwickshire every year and remains the leading cause of death and disability in the county. Breathing secondhand tobacco smoke causes the same diseases in non-smokers as smokers (namely asthma, bronchitis, lung disease, heart disease, several types of cancer, circulatory disease and many others) and is a particular danger to babies, young children and pregnant women. Breathing tobacco smoke causes asthma, bronchitis, ear infections and cot death in babies and young children and slow foetal growth and a higher miscarriage risk in pregnancy.

Work Smoke free

All enclosed workplaces and public places in the UK have had to be completely smoke free from 1st July 2007. A good smoke free policy can increase productivity, improve staff relations, reduce sickness absence and cleaning costs and protect the workforce from a known killer so it's good news all round. Live Smoke free
