WARWICKSHIRE STOP SMOKING SERVICE (NHS)
PRESS RELEASE
Local Champion Quitter says “You can do it” on No Smoking Day
Local resident, and smoker for 11 Years, Louise Fortune (31), has successfully stopped smoking and has a powerful message for smokers this No Smoking Day, Wednesday 8th March. Louise’s wants other smokers to know “You can do it” after she successfully quit with Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service, following No Smoking Day 2004. It was generally feeling unwell with bad throats, shortness of breath and dull skin that made Louise seek help from her doctor’s surgery to take the best step she could to improve her health. Louise, from Rugby, visited her local surgery, where she received support, and encouragement from the practice nurse, Helen Pilley.
Louise hopes that by sharing her story it will show “you can do it” if you are “serious about stopping”. No Smoking Day is an excellent opportunity for smokers who have had enough of their habit to join over a million smokers across the UK and attempt to quit for good. This No Smoking Day there is more help than ever before for smokers to join Louise and more than one million smokers across the country to reap the benefits of a smoke free life.
Louise, visited Dr Czerniewski Practice at Dunchurch which is just one of many GP surgeries and pharmacists in Warwickshire offering a service to smokers wanting to stop. Nurses and pharmacists, specially trained by Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service, are available throughout the county to offer support to smokers as well as products on prescription that can help with cravings. The service is part of the Smoke Free Warwickshire Alliance who are supporting No Smoking Day Wednesday 8th March, helping smokers like Louise to stop.
Jane Wright, Manager of Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service said “We are very pleased at Louise’s success in quitting and hope that others will be inspired by her example. Stopping smoking leads to a healthier, wealthier life with many quitters saying they feel better than they have in years.”
